A man is whatever room he is in

The Mark Krebs website went live in October of 2020.  It was built in my backyard office of my Toronto apartment, nicknamed The Shed.  Behind the shed was where I parked a rented 10’ shipping container. This is where I had been receiving and storing my rugs for the last year and a half to great organizational chaos and logistical stress.

I was lucky to never have had to receive a rug shipment from India in the rain or snow as I had to pack the container by hand in the open air.  Convincing the massive delivery trucks to drop the product off in the back alley was comical to say the least.  You often hear origin stories of companies being founded in someone’s garage. A garage! How nice that would have been!

Although the container was a watertight and secure storage solution, 10’ square feet of space fills up pretty quickly, and running commercial shipping and receiving out of it was bordering on absurd by the end.

This setup was always meant to be temporary. On April 15h I said goodbye to the shed and shipping container and loaded a U-Haul for Montreal.

New beginnings

I’m happy to announce my new studio is located in unit 206 at  5520 Rue Chabot, Montreal.  As you can see from the photos below there is quite a bit of work to do. Over the next few months, I'll be installing warehouse shelving and building a design office along the back North facing windows.

If you find yourself in the neighborhood, feel free to stop by.
